Let’s all join together with our mycorrhizal strands to protect our soil and see how hard it is for us to be pulled apart by cultivation.
We can understand a lot about the health of our soil when we conduct a worm count. Here a group of teachers from North Otago Primary and High Schools learn the technique so they can teach their students about the amazing ‘Living Soil’.
Imagine you are a microbe in the soil - are you are ‘goodie’ or a ‘baddie’ ? What will you do to help/harm the plant roots around you?
Hot competition here - who can find the most worms in their sample? An extraordinary result - 102!!
Damaged soil - too hard to cultivate and too lifeless to support plant growth. Permaculture No-Dig beds provided the answer across the grounds at the Living Campus Project in Dunedin.
